If not, you missed out on lots of neat activities that showed children and adults alike how animals survive in the wild through the use of beaks, appendages, camouflage and more.

Stations were set up throughout the Zoo buildings and plenty of you came out to try out the various critter “challenges” run by our knowledgeable docent team. And of course, what would a Zoo event be without face painting?

What a glorious surprise to have yet another day of sunshine at the Zoo!

On Thursday, March 3 the Zoo Society kicked-off the 22nd  year of this spectacular event, with a party at the Genesee Valley Club. More than 100 people -  including Board members, donors and committee members – came out for the celebration. The three people with the highest value of tickets purchased won prizes, including tickets to opening night of “The Lion King” at the Auditorium Theatre, an Amazon Kindle and a Red Wings VIP package.

The pre-party net more than $20,000. We are continuously thrilled at the fantastic support we receive from the community. Fundraising efforts like this help the Zoo’s education and conservation programs as well as exhibit enhancements.

As the 2011 theme suggests, we want you to come “Celebrate Your Inner Beast” at the Zoo. Purchase your tickets today. Click here for details and check back for updates about this event!
